Re-opening the shop
Thank you for your messages of support – we’re as keen to open again as you are.
However, the shop is very small and we don't think we could safely follow the 1 metre rule.
In addition, we need to ensure that the volunteers who run the shop are not taking any unnecessary risks whilst volunteering
Perhaps, the safest way to open the record shop, in the short/medium term, is by appointment only.
- This would initially be on a Saturday,
- for 1-2 (linked) people at a time
- for a half an hour slot.
If you’d be interested in accessing the shop in this way, send an email to email@example.com
We will assess demand and then, if we go ahead with this approach, we’ll be in contact with more details of the protocols and procedures.
In the meantime, the OSR team will be playing vinyl records on Saturdays, from the Olympic Cinema entrance, through June and July.
There will also be a small selection of new press, vinyl records for sale.

Opened in July, 2018., the shop is located at 66 Church Road, opposite the Olympic Studios and Cinema in Barnes,
‘OSR’ is a community record shop specialising in vintage and new vinyl records. It celebrates the rich music recording history of the Olympic Studios, one of the great British recording institutions. From its opening in Barnes in 1966 until closure in 2009, Olympic Studios hosted everyone from Led Zeppelin, the Rolling Stones and the Who to Madonna and U2.
In addition to selling iconic vintage albums, new pressings of Olympic recorded music and albums by contemporary recording artists, the shop provides a place for local residents to sell their vinyl collections. The OSR team will advise which titles will be most saleable, clean and repair the vinyl and its packaging and research the optimum sale price for each album. Commission on sales will be charged at 40%-50%, depending on the condition and saleability of the albums selected for sale.
As well as providing a place for music fans to come together to share stories and test their knowledge against that of their fellow music fans, the site will also collect and collate the archive of the full body of music recorded and mixed at the Olympic Studios from 1966 - 2009, currently a list of almost 900 albums.
Merchandise and signed memorabilia will be available for purchase, along with a small selection of musical and analogue equipment.
The store is open three days per week,
Friday, from 12 noon to 6 pm, Saturday 10 am to 6 pm and Sunday 12 noon to 4 pm.
